Our solid oak floating shelves with their minimalist modern design look fantastic in any room of the house. Made from 44mm thick oak, each shelf is fully bespoke to fit your exact space. Choose from 5 different edging styles and a choice of 4 protective finishes to create your perfect shelf.

The Floating Shelf Company provides a completely free bespoke design service for you to customise your shelves, allowing you to choose the style of your shelf corners and edging to suit your tastes, but also enabling you to include cut outs and cable holes as required.

Oak floating shelves are available up to 2400mm (2.4 metres) in length and up to 300mm in width – shelves wider than 240mm will usually be made with two planks. If you require wider shelves, please take a look at our oak wall shelves or oak alcove shelves, as wider shelves will require support from traditional undermounted brackets or battens.

Floating shelves are mounted using ‘invisible’ concealed brackets. We supply the shelves with pre-drilled holes and the necessary number of brackets for the size of shelf you purchase. If you require your brackets to be positioned in a certain place (to hit timber studs or avoid pipes/cables) just let us know and we will pre-drill the holes in the correct position for you.

Our floating shelves are supplied at 44mm thick as standard. However, we will happily plane the shelves to anything as thin as 32mm if you so require – just ask. We don’t produce them any thinner than this as the shelves themselves would be weaker and be supported by smaller and weaker brackets.

Please note: Floating shelf brackets can only be mounted into a solid wall or timber stud behind plasterboard. Please see our fitting instructions page for full details and our step-by-step instructions on how to mount your shelves.

Designer edging is exclusive to The Floating Shelf Company and adds a contemporary look to your shelves. Designer edging is available in any of our three traditional hardwoods (oak, ash and walnut), with the option of adding either one or two stripes of contrasting timber to the front edge of the shelf.

To pick designer edging, simply add the designer edging option to your order using the dropdown menu provided

Designer edging is available for all floating shelves, wall shelves, alcove shelves and window sills, to the front edge only.

Please note: Designer edging is not available for corner shelves or shelves with radius or clipped corners, and cannot be applied to the sides of the shelves.
